Looking for help... with tomahawk targets

Hi folks,
New poster, just looking for some help and a nudge in the right direction please.
Apologies if this isn't the right forum for a request.

Our Scout group has been happily throwing tomahawks and minihawks (angels) for a couple of years after a few of us were trained and we got our own kit. The log rounds we used are getting a bit seen into now and have softened to an unsafe level over the winter. We're looking to source some softwood log rounds for use as targets (as we'd also like to build up a permanent tomahawk throwing range for this and add archery over time)

It might be obvious to some, but we're struggling to find softwood log rounds, our official 'best practice' guidance on targets is:
"Appropriate targets are made of soft woods (e.g. Poplar, Pine, Wellingtonia or Willow) and could be of a fixed variety or portable depending on the circumstances surrounding the activity. Targets are typically log slices, a minimum of 100mm thick and at least 600mm in diameter; a preferred diameter is 750mm – 1000mm as the larger the target the more successful the throwers are likely to be."

We're based in Harrogate but could hire a van to pick up if needed - any advice on where we might be able to get some free or very cheap log rounds please?

Cheers

Have you phoned around the local tree surgeons?

You might have to pick up from them in the middle of the day while they are on the job but you might have some success that way.(not all tree surgeons are on here of course)

It could be lead to bigger things,. maybe a regular supply of firewood too
