Anyone know of or can recommend a contractor with a mobile processor who might be interested in putting 12 tonnes of straight hardwood through at my farm in Nottinghamshire?

Timber is 2021 cut, and is stacked on hardstanding in 150-300mm diameter * 2.5m lengths.

I can certainly do that.

However we are a trip from there so travel & accommodation might make it too costly.

Even if I dont do it here is a tip.

Dont use the bucket to collect the logs.

Even if its a 1m3 bucket you will be changing it every 15 mins loosing 5 mins while you do. Over a day thats a lot of lost production.

12t so lets call it 24IBC or 29m3.

Without stopping thats 7 hours work. With stops its now up to 9 hours work.

You will make the job slower & it will cost you more.

Every time you move to empty the bucket production stops. Get a trailer that will take it all or two trailers or a stack of IBC's. Or plain old pile on the floor.

This is one days production on this thin stuff

  • 2 weeks later...

Just to round this one off.

Charlie from Front Row Fencing and I had a good day last week and processed very nearly all the wood into IBC cages.

Thanks for the help and guidance everyone.

( picture is when we were a little over half done 👍)
