What suitable trees to place in Patio gaps?

Question

Hi all

Looking for some advice please.

We are creating a patio at the bottom of our garden (garden is approx 9m wide by 10-12m deep) and are looking to put two trees in circular gaps in the patio. The trees are to provide some interest to the bottom boundary and provide a degree of screening from the car park to the rear of the garden, so looking for something with a narrow trunk, likely branchless below 2m, and then with leaves that aren't too dense to cut all light out, but will give a degree of privacy. Acknowledge the trees we would likely find will be deciduous which is fine (i.e. less winter privacy). We don't want trees which are too big, but can if appropriate maintain to an acceptable size. The other concern (perhaps don't need to worry) is the ability for the tree roots to lift the patio - trees we have been looking at seem to have shallower roots so more likely to lift the patio.

Are there any that someone could recommend that wouldn't risk lifting the patio so much or is it just something we need to accept and address any raised patio slabs if and when it happens?

Trees we have been looking at have 2m clear trunks with a height of 4-5m on purchase, it would be ok if the tree went to about 6-8m once mature.

Ones we were recommended by a local nursery were;

- Betula Pendula Jacuemonti;

- Sorbus Aria Lutescens

- Acer Patanoides Crimson Sentry

- Acer Platanoides Crimson King

- Prunus Sargentii

Also saw the below at a local garden centre;

- Prunus Serrulata Kanzan

- Prunus Cerasifera Pissardi

- Prunus Serrula

- Pyrus Calleryana Chanticleer

- Betula Alba (Pendula)

Many thanks in advance for any advice given.
