Drive side tracking

My son and I have been carefully assembling our woodlander HM130MAX for the last week. Without heavy equipment, we got the head mounted and running very smoothly on its tracks, so far, so good.

We've been working through the manual page by page. Today page 64, blade tracking.

Our first real eff up.   

In our defense,  I really think the page should start with the same warning stuck on the machine.... "factory set do not adjust tracking".  It was hot, sunny and we are both a bit tired.  

Page 64  refers to "adjustments on either side".   We now know we shouldn't have touched the drive side, but we did, and my son has had to take a break to avoid a complete melt down.   Any advice on resetting the correct tracking for this side.  Pleeeeze!

Follow the instructions, take it slow and methodical. Adjust, spin the band wheel by hand, observe and re-adjust.

Michelle Goss uses a Woodland Mills 126 and has experienced difficulties in re aligning the drive motor pulley to re tension her drive belt and align same to the drive wheel. Her videos are worth a look.

Occasionally she has to deal with grizzly bears dropping by on their property in Western Canada which is not something that troubles us much here in Oxfordshire but we do have to deal with the dreaded glis

I did the same while making ours, I think we just played around with it for ages but you could just put a square on it and make it straight both ways then hopefully just use the other side to perfect it.

 

For what it's worth I rarely adjust it again between blades and to check I just spin it a few times then run my fingers round to make sure all the blade is flush with the back of the wheel. Torque isn't that important either. Just reasonably tight by hand as if you're doing a lock nut. We have the standard 130.
