I would double check the lantra thing, i may be out of date, but it certainly was the case they had expiries on the tickets.

The reason i kknow is on the local estate the new forestry management company wanted everyone to have saw tickets, was a load of auld retired boys that played about tidying trees up for the fire wood.

Them and a few estate staff all done the lantra ticket at local college ( who also do nptc) and the forestry company wouldn't accept them, about 8 folk had payed for a worthless ticket

Also , there are one or two folk about who have no tickets but have more experience and common sense  than some of the "snap the chain brake on at very opportunity and at max revs " brigade . 🙂 Just saying and that .

No doubt, but  nowadays often if the land owner/forestry company its a case of 'puter say's NO' 😀

No doubt just an asre covering/box ticking thing, but at the same time if u don't have a 'good old boy' to show u all the old timers tricks training is the only way to go.

To be honest none of it is rocket science and common sense is th most important thing with a tiny bit of hand/eye/saw bar coordination
