Is Xstatic splicable?

Ia it possible to splice Xstatic rope? I cant find any instructions on Teufelbergers website, so assuming not..

Don’t think it is, I was told when I bought mine that it wasn’t but I’m sure someone may of tried it.? Although if your climbing srt you shouldn’t really need a splice.

I used the drenaline splife instructions as a guide but from memory there is an extra core strand in xstatic so I just left it in with the last core strand, smooth taper and everything

 

Obviously not an approved splice but nice to have

I do climb SRT so rarely need one a I'm looking for a 60m line that will mostly be base tied. But occasionally it's useful, the main occasion being double roping of a tall pole. But that's rare so not a deal breaker on the rope. Just curious whilst deciding what rope

Just curious Stephen why do you base tie mostly? Do you use it mainly for access then change over to drt once in the tree.?
I only base tie when I can’t isolate a high anchor point from the deck, and generally change to a tip tie once I’m in.

Also the xstatic is a great rope. It’s very hard wearing and 60m is plenty of rope for uk trees.

What device / hitch are you running on it?

I wouldn't recommend xstatic as an MRS line. It's fantastic for SRS but I would disagree with geoffers about its durability and it's so stiff and static it's just unpleasant to climb MRS on. 

I only spliced it as an exercise and because I can 🤷 it's nice to keep things neat for canopy anchors and using retrieval balls but that's about all I use it for. 

I don't know what the general consensus is on the splife but personally I don't quite trust it yet

No I use srt through out. Base tie for access and working off, use a second line that swaps between srt and srt. Unless it's a dismantle then I change to a top tie with minimal rope left to tangle on the ground.

A couple other splicing options are Marlow’s Vega and NER’s Heavy Duty Kernmantel for the twisted parallel core ropes.
