Sharpening your sawmill chains

Just a point of interest here - what angle do you chainsaw-mill guys sharpen your cutters at?  Only asking coz I'm not that impressed with my ripsaw chain at, I think, 10°.  Not a mill, just used for occasional cutting with the grain.  Cheers.

Would help if explain what setup you are using musch ?

Just a chainsaw - Husky 372XP - with a chain that I got a long, long time ago for ripsaw-work.  Very shallow angle on the cutters, not the usual 30°.  Chain seems good, rakers at the right height, at least the same as I use on the other saws, .025.  Got a couple of big oak crutches (not the sort that go under your armpits...) that I want to turn into rustic seats, so have to rip down the back of each one.  Going too slow for my liking - maybe I'm just impatient?

The reason you use a 10 degree chain is to improve the finish. It will also slow the cut a bit. If you are just using a chainsaw freehand you won't get a good finish anyway so the angle of cutter is pointless. Mau as well just use a standard chain.
