Hi there, I need some advice..... just received a new bar for my stihl 044  a 30030086121 but just noticed that sthil list  30030005221 as the correct bar.

will it work or do i need to return it and get the correct item ?

I traced the bar and oil path way on the saw and they sort of match.WIN_20210825_09_03_57_Pro.thumb.jpg.6ba569f3c91390e01ae22d26426a6e34.jpg

If the oil hole lines up you should be ok, pitch and drive link count is the same and they are 1.6 gauge but the 121 is listed for MS391 to use rapid micro for farm and firewood cutting and the 221 rapid super for forestry on saws like the MS441.

Both fit, I believe the 121 is small nose and 221 is bigger nose roller (more teeth).

Seems larger nose roller will cut faster (when buried), but smaller has lower kickback tendency. Thus forestry saw usually spec bigger but farmer MS391 spec the smaller one.

On this page you will find a little glossary with the main technical terms connected with STIHL guide bars like 'Pitch', 'Bar length' or 'Groove width'.
