I bought a cheap winch for £60, it was crud beyond belief. I now have a Warn 4 tonne radio controlled winch on my navara. The best investment ever.

I have used it 4 times this week, once to winch over an 80 foot poplar with a severe back lean. If your out to make money buy the best you can afford.

it is a handy size geoff, i have a 5 ton one aswell, its a beast to carry about, the little one is a lot easier, but if i ever use a tirfor its on something horrible, so i like to make sure i have enough grunt, and i am not usually the one on the handle:biggrin:

Yeah, the 5 ton bodies are heavy but not as big a pain to lug about as 100' of 16.3mm rope when you only need 30'! So I got myself a 10m rope too; darned good value for stump pulling as I nearly always manage to anchor less than 10m from the target.

If you're only getting one winch I'd suggest going for a 5-ton; you can pull 4 lbs or 4 tons with it, but you can't pull 4 tons with a 3-ton winch.
