Oregon 620 sharpener?

Hi, 

 

Anyone got any experience with this sharpener? Been doing a lot of domestic stuff recently and I'm getting fed up of sharpening all the chains and stuff by hand. Works well for a quick touch up but if it's clipped a nail, a stone or as the case was the other day, a concrete post hidden in around the back of an apple tree it's a long and tedious process. I also have the milling chains now for 74" bars etc and it's going to take an age to do those.

I will obviously get the 230v version. 

 

If there's something better for the ~£300 price point then I'll take any advice!

Hi Paddy,

 I've been considering a bench grinder for milling chains. The only one I could find that accommodated the 10Deg needed was this one. The Oregon doesn't seem to have the ability to cant to 10 and seems fixed at 0Deg

As to whether it's any good I'll wait for others to comment and stick with my Granberg.

I stand corrected...There is and Oregon that does the 10Deg tilt/cant...

I think the 620 has the same. I'm just intrigued by the hydraulic clamp as it looks like it clamps as you lower the head so it's all a bit quicker!

I get it, but the other one is cable. 

I'd go cable as it appears to be a bit easier to maintain. 

Love to know how you get on with it...if you do go for it..

I didn't realise they had one with a cable? I would prefer a cable as it's less to go wrong but the only one I saw was manual? It's a £4 difference between the manual and hydraulic

I bet it would be spot on. I'm struggling to part £300 for a decent grinder let alone £866 😂
