I think those that think it i easy are disillusion-al. I am self emp... have 4 years of returns. If you new the trouble I have had over the last 3 months then you would probably stick here you are or keep renting.

Avoid ABBEY like the plague, they have had nothing but demands to come up with he relevant information, which when provided they respond with more information needed or the stuff you gave them is invalid as they have taken so long to process it is now out of date.:wtf:

They were asking for official figures for the current year. Not the current tax year! They demanded I submit a return upto Dec09. when I explained that the government doesn't need that information yet they said I needed an accountants reference. which as duly completed and sent over only for them to bounce the application as they don't use projections of earnings. :cursing:

when the mortgage conveyancer I am using, challenged the business manager at Abbey with removing all their business they currently do together. The response was that they were probably correct and they should go and look elwhere!!!

:BoomSmilie_anim: ABBEY

3 months on and know further forward, lets hope round two is better!

forgot to add. 167k mortgage application, 30k deposit, purchase price well under the prices of similar properties in the same road.

They did come back with an offer - 30k less than they originally offered. The repayment on the mort. was 80 quid a month less than my current rent. still said NO.

I am presently applying with a.n.other! It isn't the end of the world, but a bit of a pain in the rear.

Good luck.

I know things have changed alot but 10 years ago I could not get 80k from lenders but Barclays authorised 300k . In the end I borrowed 160k . I have an old style Barclays mortgage. Could be worth a try. I dont like the organisation but I still have a mortgage with them :thumbup1:

Try a RBS bank i have found them great this year. They say that due to being backed by the government their lending is still the same to a certain extent:sneaky2:

I am trying to get one at the mo basically i own 60% of my house but self employment is frownd apon:confused1: so trying to get a mortgage on my partners wage alone, it looks like it might work and chance of that?

i'm with hsbc and have all savings with them, have 40k mort with them on which i pay more than double overpayments on @600p/m, own 68% of house so want to borrow 38%

am asking for 60k, repayments will be 300p/m and they have said no

makes no sense to me!!!!!
