T arryan Your photos are really nice. The fungi with the moss on is Pseudotrametes gibbosa

Im going to be a smart arse now and say its not moss but an algae that grows among the surface hairs and is quite a good way to recognise this mushroom

nah, if you was being a smart arse you would have also mentioned the granular deposits often left by boring insects as another good indicator!

Thanks once again guys, I was going to ask what the fungi was, the only one i knew was coprinus disseminatus, Unfortunatly I struggle with names so you will have to forgive me if I get any wrong or use common names from time to time.

I can see myself learning allot here, Fungi Is something I have recently become intrested in as I start reading more about trees and their health/biology.

I will keep this post updated as I take more pictures, I hope you will forgive me posting my Fungi pictures here as i get them too, seems a little backwards to start a second picture thread in the fungi section, Just tell me If i should do though

oh and closer inspection your right it was algae, I also noticed a large spider on the mushroom, In my original picture i can zoom in and find quite a few insects on it! you can see the spider on the overhang just below the little black... blob in the centre!

These were growing on dead wood that the client wanted removed, so It was either this or onto the fire with em  Didn't have a camera with me to take a picture so I brought them home. I understand your point though, if the wood was to be left then I would be happy to leave them and return at a later date and photograph them with the clients permission.

the large one is about 25-26 inches across, Is it uncommon to find them this big? its the first I have seen this size.
