evening gents

so secound post on here , more saw advice please

so ive had a good think about bar size & looking for 18-20 " ive looked at the makita but it only goes up too 18"

so i mainly use it for logging up old dead trees in the winter months i have a couple of burners too feed , so really its just for hobby use ,

i try & avoid softwoods & mainly cut up hardwoods

but as said i,m a tradesman & would rather buy once not twice but cheap ,like all my tools i like nice kit that will last for years & get parts easy for it.

years ago i bought 2x sthill saws ms 180 & ms 170 , these have done me well , so i,m also thinking secound hand ?

been looking at  husqvarna 560xp or the 562 xp there both secound hand  & Husqvarna 572XPG thats brand new but comes with good reviews ?

so i guess im really asking you all what saws would you recomend & secound hand or brand new ?

thanks guys much appicated

Hardwood, I would buy the 572 without batting an eyelid,

one guy on another site has 2000 hours on his, that says a lot.

But honestly, depending on how long you spend cutting, a good

running 562 at the right money could be better, though I would only

buy second hand from people I know who take care of their tools,

too much rubbish out there thats abused.

I dont like the 562 because of its history, and its getting up there in weight,

but they seem to have fixed any issues with it,

but am probably going to end up with a Stihl MS400, but they are not cheap.

EDIT, you do know the xpg has heated handle, the xp does not and is cheaper.

I'm looking at getting the new MS 261 with the 18" blade. The main reason is because of the weight which is under 5kgs. Expecting to pay £610 for it, brand new in the saw centre.

Nice saws, you wont be disapointed.

You get a Makita EA5600, it will run a 20 inch bar, though you can cut a lot of wood with an 18, not a lot of difference unless you are continiousely running out of bar, a tree is rarely the same width much of the way up.

Are you sure about that? Assuming he runs the saw for 4hrs a day (which is very unlikely) and works a 5 day week, he would be up to nearly two years use and it has only been out for around that time.

The most I have seen on many 560/550s has been circa 275-350 Hrs and some of those have been down on their uppers!

I would like to see the AT readout as I don't see it stacking up!

I have absolutely no reason to question his hours, he is well respected and

liked by many. A US site, I have no idea how long the 572 is out.

Available from Q1 2019 as far as I can see so under 2 years use, just seems excessive to me on what I have seen unless it was pre production test machine as it was launched in August 2017 and then delayed. I guess if he is processing timber or in forestry on a pre launch saw....must be a reason!
