Good afternoon.

I was hoping that someone would be looking to get rid of hardwood chips (they must be hardwood), that i could use for my chicken run. I need approx 3 M2 and im happy to pay a fee for them with delivery. I'm located just outside Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.

If i have posted in the wrong section any advice on tip sites etc would be appreciated.

Regards

Ian

Hello and welcome from a fellow North Eastener. :D I'm a wee bit down the coast from you though.

There's another member who Mills wood up your way. But potentially saw dust from a bandsaw would be a bit fine for you?

Is there issues with using softwood? Ive been throwing a mix of predominantly hard and some soft in with my chickens for a few years now.

I would throw in anything I have to hand that is surplus, leaves, grass cuttings, sawdust, shavings, any type of wood chip, shredded paper. All they're gonna do is crap on it and dig it up anyway

SOft wood rots so quickly so id prefer to pay the extra to make it last longer.

So your kinda right with the shitting but the mess rotting grass, paper and leaves make and the risk of COPD from dust, id rather try and keep them happy ad go with the hardwood, thanks
