I dont know of any chainsaw boots that have steel inserts in the sole, as i dont expect that many maunfacturers factor that into their design, but i know of some steel capped boots that are waterproof, have steel soles and are mega comfy, they are called Amblers Steels abd cost around £35-40. Although i dont, i know a few tree surgeons who use them.

It hurts doesnt it BTW.....

I take it you got a nail in your foot??:thumbdown:

Id put it down to being an accident and a one off mate, I doubt it will happen again for a very long time, If you stand directly on a nail, Im pretty sure it will go threw nearly all if not all of the boots out there

Although i think them fancy new red ones have a metal plate in the sole, Not 100% tho pal

IMO opinion all safety footwear should have sole protection too. The other week I stood on a small off-cut of wood in my Steins, and it felt as if if I'd cracked a bone in my foot! Years ago I stood on a large nail on a building site while doing tree work, totally going through th boot and right through my foot. I'm pretty sure the Haix range have steel inserts in the sole.

I had borrowed an old escort from a friend and it had been fitted with cheep cheep tyres. I was driving through quite a rural area got a puncture and was in a rush so jumped out to change the wheel. I proceeded to break the nuts before jacking the car, all nuts apart from 1 which was a bit hard, I must of put the wrench in quite a vertical position as when I was jumping on it it went through my trainer in to my foot.

The wrenches that came with the escorts had a plastic end so that you could prize off the hub caps but this had gone and the metal which was left tapered in to a point. It happened so quick it didn't really hurt and I pulled my foot off with out realizing what had happened.

It took me a few seconds to figure out why my trainer was connected to the wrench then once I realized it started to hurt and I panicked and started swearing.

I was in a quite location with a flat, luckily a couple in a house nearby heard me swearing and came out to see what happened. they took me to hospital and changed the tyre for me.

That night I woke up in absolute agony and it took a while before I could walk.
