How much for a cord???

I know this is an age old question but all the threads I've searched seem to end up going off in a different direction or quoting prices for a ton rather than a cord. I sell split logs not cords & a mate wants me to sell a load of beech for him, only been down for a few months so not ready till next winter. Diameter ranges from about 3" to 20" so a bit of a mixture really.

Down in Dorset so price would be different than that up north I'm sure.

Might not help directly,but I am getting standing birch/scrub oak at £30 a cord for small volumes,would expect this to decrease for larger amounts.

$200 for a seasoned cord of wood (8'x4'x4') and $150 for green wood. Stacking and going up 'n' down any stairs is extra.

Whether or not its relevant, but I just paid £70 for two cord for Beech and Elm. Mostly butts but some pulp lengths. It is at roadside waiting for me to buy a tractor and take it home.

u are going to confuse your potential customers with all these different measurements, cant we try and keep it metric.

No. As long as you are clear with your conversions there is no need to lose the traditional and accurate methods of measuring standing timber.

I don't know anyone who sells in cords - which is a great shame - but you'd get just over 2 cubic m of solid wood in a cord (assuming it was stacked so that 60% was wood). A common price for firewood at roadside seems to be £30/ton, which would be about £30 per cu. m for beech. So, your cord at roadside could be around £60.

 

If it was all dead straight, you'd get more in the cord, so perhaps you could charge more..
