Security for chipper pad eye / lifting eye

Evening all,

just wondering what the consensus is on locking out the lifting eye on the chipper ?

I've got the usual wheel clamps, towing hitch locks, but wondering if it's worth locking out the eye......or is there no point as slings can be used anyway ?

I initially looked at something like this

Heavy Duty Towing Eye Lock Self colour steel finish Suitable for 40mm & 50mm towing eyes.

I suppose I should really get a concrete block set in the ground to prevent it being lifted, but in the meantime......any ideas ?

cheers

Mike

Unfortunately, if the thieving scum want your asset, they will go to extraordinary lengths to get it! With the tools that are available to them and knowing that the punishment does not the crime, your asset is always at risk.

They’ll lift it somehow if they have come equipped for that approach sadly. If they are intent on theft, and arrive with a hiab your only real hope is to make the chipper inaccessible/out of crane reach (and not drag-able).
I would put the money you’d spend on a lift-eye towards other layers of security personally.
