2 ways to look at this. Anyone can be a busy fool working for free even though you get the timber and chip, Work out what you can manage do do in a steady day and see what the logs and chip would be worth to you against a paid days work. If your quiet at times and they let you do it in your own time then may be worth it

Yeah until we start it’s a job to know but with it being close to home it’s a massive plus! Wouldn’t have to be on the search or hardwood and make money on chip for my butty! It’s how I pay for the boys to fell when my cordwood when it’s sat for 18months to season and the chip has a value straight away! I feel I would have to pay the groundies on a day rate to fell then I make the profit on the firewood! Thoughts...

I fell for a mate about 6 trees a years for free so same arrangement i suppose, Only takes a good days work and dai always gives me a little drink for my time (£30) few wets. Has his own lorries and drops off all i cut which gives me about 10/12 cube a years in firewood which i sell for £65 ton and keep half for myself so good deal on both sides. What timber is onsite. Larch.fir/oaks ect
