I've used the Parish / Church Mag route - brought me me 10 x what it cost me in the first year. The Pick up has been wrapped now so that has had a couple of people asking for cards when filling up, even one guy got out waiting for the lights and took a card!!. The best one I've had is to drop off cards with the local (less than 5 miles radius) stove fitters - most of whom are happy to pass them on once they've seen the quality of the wood.

Hope it helps

Well sign written vehicles have got us loads of business over the years. Gave up on those coloured pages 6 years ago - wasting too much time running around giving estimates along with every other contractor in the book. Our website has generated a steady supply of work and is also a good reference point to refer new clients back to when they see it on the vans. We find commercial clients catch the website - we have it "pitched" for us by our regional search engine and it works everytime. We have three websites running, one for the landscape contracting company, one for a specialist part of the contracting company and the third one for the training company

I had some very catchy and pro looking firewood flyers made up and they have paid for themselves 20 times over easy in 8 weeks. I've put them up in any village shop/pub that has allowed me too. There were normally other firewood adverts in there but looked crap when next to mine. Worth taking bit of time and getting a decent desginer to knock some up for you instead of homemade jobbys. I also sell a few nets of logs at top of my drive, we're situated on a very busy main road and these "display" logs work well.

HI all

Just wondering how you people are advertising and how much business you get throught the adverts?

and also how cost effective the adverts are etc (how many sales you are getting to the cost of the advert)

£25 a year. Firewood - seasoned logs and wood fuel for woodburners, log burners and wood fuelled boilers We are only a small operation but had to stop taking new customers on Christmas Eve in order to protect supplies for our regulars.
