Hi all,

new member here, I have recently started doing my own free lance tree work, am fully kitted out but I'm struggling to advertise myself. I have business cards and I have advertised on Facebook Market place, I have also put myself on the local business directories. the next steps I was thinking of taking were:

  •  website
  •  facebook page/instagram page
  •  flyers (post up in places and
  •  more specific directories

cheers for reading and any comments/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated on what works and what is necessary.

H

Hi,

There was a thread a this year about whether Facebook works for people. General opinion was it doesn't for tree work.

Search up 'advertising' on here and read previous threads.

Steve Bullman (admin on here) can do you a great website.

Some folk use things like check a trade or my builder, bark etc. Again there are threads on these to read.

It takes time and people eventually find what works for them.

Good luck.

J.

As mentioned above, heres a topic I started a while back

Generally speaking, enquiries from Facebook are full of time wasters, thats not to say its not worth doing. Any free advertising is worth exploring, just be prepared for the price shoppers, or just people enjoying wasting your time as they have nothing better to do.

Website is a must for anyone looking to be taken seriously. I'd be more than happy to provide you a quote for a new site if its something you're interested in.

Checkatrade et al, all have mixed reviews with some saying they are great and others saying they are a waste of time.

Directree is a new directory just for tree surgeons which might be worth looking at. It has yet to gain traction but one to watch. Theres ample space on the listing to make a good show of yourself even if you don't have your own business website yet.

Best of luck with the new business!
