heres a good VTA for you, a very overloaded beech, dying back and as a consequence lightening the load somewhat but the real problem here is a discontiuos trunk union, at least progressing this way. Also decay cavity forming within the internal structure of the joining of the two stems.

 

This tree will be lost soon if it is not reduced, Im going to see if they will let me do it for gratis, a realy good one to follow up and document over a protracted period.:001_cool:

A little more information than we needed there I think!:confused1:

 

Nice illustration of VTA in the larix. Probably the best example Ive seen! :001_smile:

i did come across an oak once that had lost so much bark through delaminations it had become bald and there where lots of little bark initials coming back through.

 

Unfortunatley i didnt get any photos that day, but we have reduced it so i am looking forward to a second view on how well the initials have formed now they have a chance.:001_cool:
