Hi all. I’m just posting on this group hoping to get some work experience in the North Devon area.

Im currently in my last 12 months of service in the British Army (24 Commando royal engineers). I’ve done over 12 years and I’m after a change hence the leaving. I’m currently based in Chivenor (between Barnstaple and braunton).

I have the following tickets :

- NPTC across cut maintenance

- NPTC felling up to 380mm

- NPTC felling over 380mm

- NPTC Aerial rescue

- NPTC aerial chainsaw use

- Level 3 certificate in Arb (tree ID, Tree planting, tree planting aftercare, tree pests and diseases)

-Emergency first aid at work + Forestry

I have some tickets but I’m lacking experience. I’m after weekend work and I’m willing to work over my leave periods (3 weeks Xmas leave, 2 weeks Easter leave..).

Next summer i will be out the forces and it would be great to have gained a bit of experience before then so I can look for full time employment.

Originally a Geordie (Newcastle) I’m looking at settling in the North Devon area - but I’m also happy to travel.

Any help or steer in the the right direction is appreciated.

Regards

patty

Thanks - hopefully I can get some work prior to actually getting out. At least i’ll have some experience that way.

Something worth mentioning - I have a camper van which i’m happy to travel around the uk and park up close to the job. Although I’m living in north Devon I’m fairly mobile.

Search on the forum, there seem to be quite a few firms short of staff at the moment who might be glad of extra hands. If you can, ring them all up starting with the closest - shows initiative and I would say chances are you'll get chatting to at least one and it will lead somewhere.

Thanks dan - currently in the process of contacting firms. I’m also looking at getting my utility tickets.

Has anyone reading this thread got any experience in utility line surveying?
