had to drop a lovely old walnut the other day as it was starting to fail and there was a house under it so i could think of no way to save it. was just wondering if any one had an idea of the value of the timber? there is one straight length of stem that is 25" diameter tapering to about 20" and 15ft in length. would hate to see it going to fire wood

sorry no pics at the moment. i cut it about three foot of the ground as it has nice flutes which i sort of thought were the valuable bits. i think its juglans nigra its not the common one anyway. got hold of a local saw mill who seem intersted but am still waiting for the call back. cheers anyway guys
