Storing climbing kit

Recently had to change how I store my ropes etc. All in breathable rope bags and harness etc in a big husky bag. But it's now in a steel cupboard (to stop Rolands). Inside a tin barn, that gets very hot in summer, very cold in Winter and sweats if my neighbor has his heater on if in site.

Am I worrying over nothing? 

How do you lot store your climbing kit?

In the house, I also worried about rodents. I don't think damp itself is an issue (or you wouldn't climb in the rain), but I don't like the idea of mould on it that might happen if it stays damp.

mine is in the house in a kit bag or in front of the fire if its wet, not that family friendly but would be worried about rats in the shed.

We just hang wet ropes with a continuous slip knot over an exposed RSJ. It’s hard to get them dry in winter though as it’s a cold unit.
