Hi all the bur was left in the shed for about 6 months, then it was roughed out with a chainsaw. It was then re-packed with the sawdust and left for a further 3-4 months to slow the drying process. The bowl was then finnished with a flap sander on an angle grinder, and finally a drum sander on a drill. the polish was home made- equal quantities of bees wax, pure turpintine, and lindseed oil.

No, i gave it to a friend for his 40th.

However, i have spied some more burs in the woods were we are felling at the moment, including an ash bur that looks to be about 3' across. If you are interested i will post pics when i get them out of the wood.
