Messed up the head on my long reach today, looking for a new (or good 2nd hand) head for it. Its quite old now, so price needed first so I can see if its worth doing.

Ok will check tommorow; what model # is the machine i.e. HCA 265ES (prob older)...

Most of the labels appear to have worn down, even the serial no is hard to decipher these days, the numbers are there but very worn. The length overall is maybe 4-5feet, sort of short long reach if you follow. The plastics are sort of greyish, rather than the newer orange-red colour. I bought it around 5years ago 2nd hand, and its been a good tool. The engine unit and shaft are still in good order, hence why I consider repairing.

Whats gone on it, I have a few old units knocking about that I may be able to source spares from for you if that helps?

It isn't one of the figure of 8s with the bronze bush is it?

I hit a twig that was too thick for the cutters to handle, it caused at least one of the 2 drive rods to knock out, which resulted in deformation of the rod, and the drive part on the cogs. This means it wont drive the cutters anymore without leaping out of place. As the blades are also now well worn, its probably simpler to change the whole head, subject to availability and cost.

Ok, fair enough. I do have a few though including blades that are broken for different reasons. If you don't have any luck with a new unit and want to try and repair it let me know what bits you want and I'll have a look if I've got them.
