I've had a couple of customers enquire about peat (for burning not planting).

 

does anyone know of any cutters I can buy from direct either in Grampian of Highlands areas of Scotland?

 

Also any idea of prices or quantities you need to purchase in?

Peat and Birch - two absolutley beautiful smells!

Dont burn much peat to be honest but we do get the odd bag in for a change now and again.

I've never burnt it myself.

 

how does it compare to coal or softwood in terms of heat and burn time?

In my experience it burns long rather than hot, but leaves very little ash - its alot cheaper than coal and burns nicely mixed with wood.

 

Buy a bag at any local garage and try it !

There is a massive supplier on the way over from gretna to dumfries, sure if you google them they you will find details
