Do new saws need running in? - Echo 2511

There’s a train of thought that modern synthetic oils are so good at preventing wear, that good piston ring seal on cars can be suspect and that it is sometimes beneficial to use a more basic mono grade oil for the break in period.
In spite of that I’ve always thrashed my saws straight from the box.[emoji3]

Our fitter who only does saws- does say this is so, that a bore glaze occurs using synthetic oils more severe than mineral oil glaze. Though most get chucked in the bin. K
