I have a Lidl ash hoover, was 50 bucks. Very simple thing, just a metal can with a glass fiber filter and a metal flexi-hose. You can even suck hot ashes with it. It works fine.

Mr Storrs and Mr Hairy-Front, thanks for your suggestions on the ash vac, purchased one from Lidl today and have vacuumed my fireplace and fire with it already. REALLY impressed, small, compact, has a filter blow through function so keeps itself sucking at a proper decent rate. Didn’t fit the wheels, i have no need for them, wound the dog up a bit with the blow function too [emoji190][emoji39] would recommend to others too [emoji106]
