He was [in my book] everything that is wrong with Trade Unionism - an unstoppable gob-shite incessantly spouting the same BS at an unnecessarily high volume to the exclusion of everyone else and the determination to just keep going so that nobody else can speak.  

 

It's counter productive unless preaching to the converted - it's little more than rabble rousing and will never sway an 'undecided' or 'non believer' to that point of view.

 

JRM in contrast can listen as well as speaking and when he speaks it's easy on the ear, considered, measured and logical.  Even if the audience were pathologically opposed to his message, only a momentum indoctrinated chimp would fail to appreciate what it is he has to say - even if they don't like it.
