The core strands of friction cord are pretty much just there to add bulk, not strength; so if you shock load worn friction cord it's more likely to snap, as opposed to a purpose made rope-bridge which has a core with a much higher tensile strength. So you should always use a proper rope bridge, apparently.

Which is a bit arse-about-face come to think of it given that friction cord suffers much greater abrasion but is still life-support [emoji848]

Guess it isn't affected by the same metal-on-rope bend radius that a rope bridge would be?

Can anyone elaborate?
Friction cord is still subjected to sever bend radiuses. A lot of people make their own custom length friction hitches with a fisherman's on a bight as well as sewn eye cord.

Also they can still be subjected to shock loading forces if you fall whilst using them as either prusik or another friction hitch.

It’s probably fine, it’s your life.

Climbers coming on here saying they can’t afford the basic essentials leave me pulling that weird face.

Every real climber on here will know the one.
