Chains breaking

What are the commonest reasons for this? Had 2 go in a few weeks on same bar ( which is only 6 months old and looks fine) milling with MS 661

i haven't had a chain break in nearly ten years now.

Never had one go felling but I figured 3 hours of milling puts a lot of stress thru chain. I’m gonna stop filing at 10 deg from horizontal

Its lo pro.

full chisel 3/8 or 404 at 0degrees won't snap.

ive milled 100's of times, over 6 years ,never had a chain snap.

milling puts a huge strain on the chain and motor.

what power head are you using and what wood are you cutting?

its the torque of the saw and the thin lo pro chain I'd imagine.

there is practically no difference in kerf size whatever chain you use.

bin the lo pro.

seasoned ash is a real bitch.

Possible, but looking at the drive links they look ok.
Normally with an old sprocket they wear down below the oil hole, causing slipping and other problems.

I might have been hasty with my judgement of lo pro, as I've never used it.
I suspect in your case it's just a duff link.
Strap it up and see if it happens again.
