Richard is an excellent instructor. You wont go wrong with him.

Some instructors can get a bit too wrapped in in highly technical methods and equipment, and lose sight of the fact that you are trying to acquire skills to help you get a job done.

I think you'll find that Richard will be a little more realistic about the practicalities of everyday arb work.

Day One of Four.

This morning we covered legislation, PUWER,LOLER etc...and then equipment markings MBS,SWL & Knewtons etc......

This afternoon we covered basic rigging equipment and their associated knots out in the woods.

Tommorow we go Arboreal.

Im astounded at the things i have forgotten in the 10 or so years since my original rigging course.

Is it me or does that look like a different cow hitch that is shown in the Tree Climbers Companion?

Cant find my TCC, but I only tie the Cow Hitch with one half hitch and tuck the tail end in behind the rope thats round the tree, its called a Cow Hitch with a better half.

That way looks like they tie a clove hitch round the spliced eye or two half hitches in sequence.
