Just  a thought, have you checked the plug?  Sometimes if the gap gets worn (bigger due to useage ) and leads to more resistance, and hence a weaker spark when hot. This and hot fuel vapours can lead to difficulty in hot starting. Just readjustment of the gap can fix it. (0.5mm +or- 0.1mm)

 

i guessing you haven’t serviced your saw, and if you look, I think plugs get swapped in a service yearly. Although plugs can and do work well for years, it would be easy to swap the plug for about £3 (look around) but the local Stihl shop here charges £7. 

 

I spoke to to someone once, when they had a hard time starting a trimmer,  they had swapped the plug but never checked the new plugs gap, it was over 1mm. They thought the plug was already set, till I told them what if it gets mishandled or another machine requires a different size gap.

 

but after saying all this, it may not be the plug ?
