Hi mate first can I ask what it's on?? And why the seal failed ??
It's not normally to bad to change just take prop off behind there there is a castle nut or locking nut with a tab take that off (you will need air tools to remove) and pull the flang off mite need two levers behind it the then with a screw driver hammer one side try not to damage the seal face it should just pull out the other side your hammering then remove old seal check play in shaft put new one in a d careful tap the new seal by just tapping around the seal and check oil make sure its just dripping out the level bung normally a 10mm to 14 mm alen key it's a oily grim job but not to hard to do

If it's helpful I'm a 10 year merc truck mechanic and worked on a lot of unimog where abouts are u based mate

Give Alex Price a call Tom, they will see you right and give it the once over while they have it.

I have spoken to Alex, its a cassette bearing and so will need to go down to get replaced. I'll probably get it serviced the same time.

 

Unless mr trucks and trees lives in the borders....
