Alright everybody, so i curently have around 8 years in the arb industry and hold a level 2 in arb. Been climbing most of the time. My goal is to get into surveying but without having to do a level 4. Is there any short courses running that would qualify me? i no theres the pti and stuff but is there any thing abit more specific? Any advise would be grately appriciated.

Use that time you have sitting on your backside in the rain to do the level 4. The PTI is not a training course..

You used to be able to do one day a fortnight at tree life in Syston.

Trouble is Ben, if the job spec says Level 4 is essential you won't even get an interview. Even if it's only desirable you will be competing with those who have a Level 4.

You have good experience, that's priceless, but not enough on its own. Get a Level 4 qualification to backup the experience and you'll find it a lot easier to get the job of your dreams.

I think you meant Eddie.

But I agree with your advice do the level 4. Had Eddie still been working for me I would have encouraged him to do the level 4 but alas he decided to leave and is now poaching my staff...

People do say the level 4 is a MAJOR commitment...

Not sure it is ever going to lead to the "job of your dreams..." but could extend your lifespan in the tree industry beyond working on the tools.
