How bizarre - that has absolutely made my day.  I have a holly tree in the process of being swallowed by an oak (about another 50 yrs !!!) but this is (completely different and) exactly what I meant.

Not really  a tree in a tree but my mate has a really old apple tree and there is a cavity at about chest height were a limb has come off and in the mush inside , each spring there sprouts some daffodils . I really like it .  Sorry no pics .
