I used to do umpteen loads of firewood with the old mcConnell saw bench, running of a Fordson SuperMajor. The tractor was left out in all weathers, yet it would fire up straght away every day, well except one winter when the battery died! But it was so reliable as a rule.

Weve ran the mc connel on our 20's and 35 but the david brown being diesel and with a bit more power is ideally suited to the sawbench, its no effort for it, you can chuck real big hard pieces of timber at it and the david brown just rips through it, we run it for hours at a time and it uses next to no diesel :icon14:

just had a look at the logging side of the site, looking good, nice to see "old school" work alive and kicking, no nonsense stuff :icon14:

Thanks, i created our website last year, i keep adding to it gradually, trying to find the time to add alot more detail to what we have actually done to the tractors and implements. Its a good place to keep the pics i have taken aswell.

Keep your eyes open, we should have a 4-5 page feature in either, tractor and machinery or old tractor in the next couple of months. Its being worked on at the minute, im looking forward to it, ill keep you posted.

Its my dad, he's 59, despite not having the farm and land anymore, tractors/farming is still very much in his blood. He loves the old tractors, he been sawing log / felling tree's for about 40 years and is a dab hand with the sawbenches.

When he was in his 20's he used to rev up a chainsaw under his brothers bedroom window to wake him up, then they used to go off sawing all day.

Ive got alot of respect for my dad because he has taught me so so much.
