Hydraulics installation

Not sure where to ask buy here seems a start.

Looking at getting a small loading machine for use in the yard, jobs to include lifting log bags, pushing fire in etc. Anf possible on site use.

The machines i have wittled down. However one i have spotted only has two leavers, boom up n down and one for bucket action. If i was looking at a log grab or muck forks can an additional service be added to the machine for that purpose sn2d ram? It runs a 4cyl diesel donkey.

Easiest way would be to swap out that 2 slice  spool block for a three slice one. Ideally you want one with high pressure carry over to the downstream slices.

I'm well out of date on this stuff but would avoid the cheap valves, they neve feel right, often too harsh. In the past I used Monsun tison valves which became VOAC. I'm guessing the initial block with one slice  will cost around £300 and then about £100 each for two additional slices. There are lots of things to consider, like the flow rate, main pressure relief setting but also whether port reliefs are necessary (usually are on forestry stuff).

I could root around in my garage and see what bits I have for you to try out if you want.

Not to panic yet, but thanks for tge offer. Just pricing things up. Could that sort of block be changed out for a joystick type control?

If you mean go electric then you have the cost of the joystick, about £700, plus the valves and solenoids.

Most manual joysticks (I have them on a jussi trailer ) are standard slices with the spools actuated by a single lever that is a ball joint  on each spool and a fixed  part of the block, so yes I'd guess most manufacturers offer this.

I''ll save rooting around then but I will be in Southwater this afternoon.

Walking to memorial shortly
