Has anyone done this one, myself and 3 of my staff are coming up for some refresher training, as it's been a while since I did a ticket. I was thinking that this wouldn't be a bad one to do, as a refresher, I don't see much point in just refreshing for the sake of it, I'd rather do something new...

So, what are people's thoughts on this one?

One of my lads did it in conjunction with us doing unit 309 (old CS41).

I thought it was quite a nice little course, whilst the lad who did it is not a climber, it  was good to give him some formal training of the rigging system and how best to assist the climber, other than what is done on the job.

The only thing I would say is that during our discussions during our most recent AA recert it was mentioned that the refresher training has to be relevant to what you are refreshing I.e. There is no chainsaw use on this course so does it constitute refreshing the lower CS units? I'll leave that for others to discuss....

When we did it, it was all about assisting the climbers, so setting up and monitoring the site, selecting the right kit required by the climber, installing friction devices and operating them during rigging operations.

I haven't got a copy of the course content to hand and you may find if you asked the assessor to oversee you in clearing the material or chopping it up it would cover your requirements but it wasn't something we did it for ourselves so never asked.

As said originally, quite a nice little course, particularly if you have groundies who don't or haven't climbed as it gives a good formal insight into the complexities of the rigging operation
