:rauch06:Has any body on here taken part in the aus utility comp at the arb assoc conference before, I,ve competed now for 6 years and noticed alarger amount of private domestic tree outfits taking place especially last year,if there are we would would be more than willing to share some tips with you and and maybe get a thread going regarding the the different diciplines that take place.:151:5976532ab70a0_comp07044.jpg.1f87a35ba6d284d1a1b95e081982b59f.jpg[/ATTACH] unfortunatly the camera died before we got to the tree climbing section but this basicly entails a work climb based loosely around the ISA comp and a rescue climb usually with a scenario thrown up by the judges, last year there was pole top rescue section thrown in which made it a very tight finish.

never heard of this. where do they hold these events?

I think this year it will be held at the university in canterbury on the tuesday of the arb association conferance, AUS utility supplies are the main organisers and sponsers a chap called Paul Hornby runs the main of the event with help from Bill Kewwinder,Paul Hansen and several other judging the diciplines.

It would be great to get a few more private firms involved from the private sector.

on a seperate note, ive considered wether its worth opening a utility arb forum to the list?

Fantastic idea, unfortunatly it has not always had the best press but some of us do actualy care about our work and the affect we have at times on the trees, unfortunatly some times we are driven to much by the RECs decision on what they require for tree clearance from conductors e.g growth rates.:151:
