Stick welding

Once you've decided which welder you're going for make sure before you use it on anything specific you keep some scrap metal by you which is of similar thickness to the job you are about to do, this way you can have a good practise at setting your required amps so you don't ie, burn through, lack penetration. Also try and put your scrap in the position you will actually be welding in ie, vertical, flat, overhead. If you are going to weld overhead or vertical it does require a fare amount of skill though to be fair. I'm only explaining this, obvious as it all may sound because of past experience in fabrication, you will only want to grind it out so many times before you're trying to find someone to strangle!!
