Anyone with experience of the Stein ascender at £80 ish or better off with the HAAS Velux at twice the price.

Aim is use it with double rope and in future may move to SRT. Already got the foot ascender

But if I understand you won't be getting the benefits of a HAAS as you will be using Stein.

I would make one or buy the real thing personally. If you are tight for funds, make one. If your flush, then put some money back into the designers pocket and buy an original.

TBH, I used a home made one for about 3 years it was fine.

I just decided to by one after meeting The designer of the HAAS at an arb show. It was a bit of innovation that I felt he should be rewarded.

My version was actually based on Jerry Beraneks doubled line rope walker system. Only I was using it for SRT work.

The HAAS is well made and seems to be pretty contstant and reliable. As was home made one. The main difference is it took me a while to dial in the length of bungee required for a maximum stride length.
