Hi everyone, i am taking my cs38 in a few days, i was wondering if anyone knew how difficult it is( i have been climbing for about half a year) and does anyone know if there is a time limit for the rescue?

Many thanks

Piece of piss.

Everything you need to know is taught on the training days.

I don't think there's time limit as such, but if the assessor thinks you're taking too long, he'll deem you incompetent.

Learn 5 steps of risk assesment and visual tree inspection before climbing eg raised root plate, signs of decay fruiting bodies, rotten or loose branches etc.

Practical part of it is a doodle.Learn the 3 knot system eg running bowline, blakes hitch and figure 8 termination knot.

If the guy has a-decent arterial bleed, you have about 4 minutes so base your best efforts on that:scared1:

If you get the option pick an easy tree to climb and have a sneaky practice before hand, practice where to put campybum saver, take your time and don't rush! Good luck let us know how you do:thumbup:

The instructor will be far more impressed if you have made an effort to learn as much as you can and you climb safely than if you climb quickly and poorly.

Learn basic climbing hazards, 5 points of a risk assessment and the 3 knot system and you will be fine. Turn up keen to learn and it will be easy
