One thing (actually amongst others) I learnt on the NPTC chipper course (which I thought would be a big yawn suitable only for cretins) was how much I had been over-tightening the blade bolts. Massive difference.

 

Decent torque wrench costs a few quid, but money well spent IMO.

 

Anyone else noticed how the older you get the more interested you get involved in the mechanics/engine/servicing side of things?

 

I'm 41 next month.
