I got one of the SOB brand, couple of months ago. But I am not a regular climber.

I buy it because:

1-is cheap

2-is not lifesuport

3-is reviewd here: Eccentric Cam Foot Ascenders: SOB (AL-NASR)

4-treestuff actually sells it with their haas and hand and foot ascenders kits: TreeStuff - HAAS Velox Ascent Combo

I can make a small review, some pitctures and a video if that helps anyone.

My only complain so far is the spring being too much strong so I struggle a bit to feed the rope in the first meters.

Get your groundie to hold the rope to feed it through easier for that first bit. :001_smile:

I bought a rope grab off ebay some years back, kinda a cheap chinese rip off of the rock exotica ones.

Cant bring myself to use it,just couldnt trust it.

If its non ppe fine but with life support equipment i would avoid chinese copies.

I usually use the chainsaw attached to the rope as a weight and because I need it later anyway. But there are some ways to reduce the coil strength.

Again, I'm far way of a regular climber, I only used the ascender like 20 days in couple of months. Never dropped the rope so far nor have pulled strands of.

I use 16 strand new england, maybee does not help the feed/coil "problem".

After all of this I have decided:

1, I am going to buy a decent acender

2, I am going to buy a cruddy one, so I can do a proper review off it (If I stop posting it means it was really bad quality :) )
