Why is this happening to my tree?

I have what i think is a dog wood tree in my front garden, but recently i noticed there was another branch growing iff of it with completely different leaves, the new branch looks like a service tree.

Can anyone help answer why this has happened please.

You can see the dog wood leaf on the top and the service tree leaf on the bottom.

Are you CERTAIN it comes from the same tree? Not just a seedling snuck in near the base?

 

If it is.

 

Possibly a rarer spécimen sorbus grafted on to root stock, does the rogue piece come from near the base under a graft scar?

I am 100% sure it comes from the same tree, and no it is just growing from the main stem about chest height

Don't know if this matters but at the base of the tree there is two types of saplings, one is dogwood and the other is this mysterious leaf thingy

I know many variegated maples will revert to all green in patches.

 

This may be a similar thing but if I'm honest I don't know, someone on here will I'm sure.

Could you post a pic of the growth joining with the tree at chest height and the one at the base of the tree?

 

(I think that's what he means)
