Ride on mower

Hi all,

I'm currently researching into a replacement for our ancient ride on circa 1996;

We have about half an acre or so of grass (can't really call it lawn) with some fruit trees & a small proportion is in a field - I can supply pics if it helps.

Well supported in our area is Husqvarna & John Deere which seem a bit cheaper than in UK, Ive been thinking along the lines of the JD x300 series, as the x500 bit too much.

Intent is to mulch mow perhaps with optional collection if its not too tricky to change around. Terrain is mainly flat, lower field on slight slope. Grass grows almost all year round, May & June seems like almost twice a week, browns off for summer:biggrin: then slows to once a month for winter.

Any recomendations or suggestions welcome

Thanks

N

I use a variety of mowers on 7 sites, no experience of Husqvarna but there are isotherm on here that have. I use and X320 with a 48"" mulching deck on a blagged estate takes about 8 man hrs cross cut it all about 2 tanks if petrol. Serviced every winter, no failures so far except new blades. If you did buy one get a "idiot knob" for the steering wheel to make going round the trees easier. Other make I like is an ISEKI sxg19 with a high lift back but that's cut and collect.

Hi all,

Thanks for replies x300 series seems like a good choice, the dealers not far away either.

They're also a bit cheaper here in France for example the x350 is 4245 euros, I think JD has a partnership with Renault as they seem very popular with the farmers.

If you only have half an acre look at the x155. Can mulch or collect, 42" deck. Done 60 hours on mine since July with no issues.

Hi

I was considering a 155 or 165 but the 300 series seems not that much more.

Anyone got opinions of the 4 wheel steering on x354 ? worth it or is it un neccessary complexity?

I've always found domestic/light commercial ride on mowers a disappointment. We have just under an acre and we have a walk behind Ferris with a 36" deck. Does the job better than a ride on imo.

i have a john deere its old 1999! seem very well built, decks starting to go but with its age and the fact the grass is always wet id say fair enough.

mine is a mulch only deck and i find it hates long grass which is a pain if you miss a cut.
