Which begs the question why you do it so cheap?

Because I can and still turn a profit without ripping customers off! I haven't spent out on really expensive machines that owe me a fortune in return. As an electrical and mechanical engineer, I've been able to restore and maintain older machines and run them at low cost. I even resharpen teeth to get maximum use out of them.

It is also not my main income so I don't need to seize the maximum from every opportunity.

My ethos is an honest days work for an honest days pay. There are a lot of guys that use me now, many of them are on here.

I've quoted on jobs where customers have been quoted as much as 4 times as much for the same job! So am I too cheap, or are others taking the piss?

That all may be true but all you are doing is starting a race to the bottom. And making life more difficult for the people who do need to charge the higher figure.

You're too cheap pal & just devaluing what everyone else does. I'm all for competition but when you go to cheap the arse will fall out of the market...

So, I can knock out 3-4 jobs such as you describe in a day and make up to £600 and that's too cheap?

Yeah £11 a stump just seems too low?! Agree 450-600 a day is a good income & fair play if you're out doing that every day but with how many men /machines? Maybe with 3 or 4 jobs right next to each other you could but It's quite rural here & you'd have no chance. Just out of interest, how much for one 10" stump with easy access ?
