42'' blade gives round about 20'' of cut. Im going to put a top saw on at some stage either circular or hydraulic chainsaw. 65hp three phase motor

for larch i would like to see a large knife behind the blade and wedges on hand, also how did you get on with the blades? the teeth look like simonds 3 x 9 insert - gotta love a big circular mill!

It's a bit of a beast!:thumbup1:The knife is being painted at the minute. Your exactly right with the blade simonds inserts. Lancashire saws can sort me out they have hundreds in stock and at a quid a piece I don't think badly priced! I've just put all new bearings in it. It's built like a tank and really easy to work on.

I don't know of any others. There was one in Northern Scotland for sale a couple of years back, and I know that Willie at Abbey Timber speaks highly of his.

This one came from the Isle of Bute and was originally supplied by fuelwood but they don't support them anymore. I know in 1999 it was £38000. If it will do what laimet claim it should do over 20 cubic meters per 8 hour shift!. It's supposed to be 3 times as quick as a band rack but I guess time will tell on that one. It supposed to be able to do a 29foot length too. Once it's up and running I will take some videos. Can you put videos on here?
